Fri, May 23 - at Laura's

5.34am - fruit nut bar before boot camp. Today was the last day of this session, i.e. test out day, and yours truly worked out hard enough to pull a muscle in her neck. Ouch.8.01am - boot camp sponsored breakfast at Coco's, with Ritesh and all the other bootcampers. This is an egg-white omelette w/ tomato, basil and feta cheese, a side of hash browns w/ham, some fresh fruit and some OJ.
2.07pm - Indian eggplant, potatoes, mung beans and rice, at home. Today was a half day at work, so I had the leisure to spend the afternoon reliving the 80s with the help of a compilation of the work of the very brilliant Anton Corbijn. While icing my sore neck.
3.01pm - a cuppa that lovely new tea I got from Surfas Culinary Supplies, named after Yours Truly.
3.39pm - somehow, watching Anton Corbijn clips triggered a Pavlovian reflex and I had to zip out and get some plum cake from Emil's Swiss Bakery. I used to have a lot of plum cake in the 80s...
8.30pm - Laura is back from Morocco (welcome home, Laura!) and treated me to yet another lovely dinner at her house. A delicious whole chicken, stuffed with onions and garlic, an equally delicious eggplant dish courtesy of her famed Filipino nanny Hedi, who is quickly approaching the status of an institution (her mustard chicken is legend), broiled asparagus, rice and a salad w/ tomatoes and feta. All I got to do was whip up a little vinaigrette. Thanks, Laura!
8.54pm - the lovely Sicilian red we were having. What a treat after weeks of abstinence during boot camp...
9.54pm - Trader Joe's French apple tart, and Laura's adorable little world-traveling adventure baby in the background.
