2 BBQ's in one weekend!

After being virtual hermits and having no social life to speak of for the last 5 months that the Pops has been in hospital/rehab, we finally got out this weekend and got to spend time with friends at not one but 2 BBQ's. What a treat! The only problem was that they were both on the same day, so we had to cut one of them short a little - but hey, we FINALLY got to see our adorable godson Spike again after all this time, so it was all worth it.

Here's the fruit salad watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, strawberries, papaya and figs) that we brought to Katherine and Kevin's. It has an agave-lime sauce and was supposed to be served with Indian chaat spices that we brought separately since they're not everyone's cup of tea. We actually left before this was served, so I'm curious to find out what people thought of it.
Appetizers at Katherine and Kevin's. They also had a fabulous goat brie that I couldn't stop eating and probably finished off on my own... And here we are down the street at Nady and David's... this is Ritesh's home-made spicy salsa, in honor of Nady's great uncle who's here on his annual visit from Germany and who really likes spicy food!
Our godson, his big brother and the lucky mom of these gorgeous boys!

some oven-baked yams that could have used an extra 10 min in the oven...
...but the burgers were ready, so we pulled them out. These are Nady's signature low-fat turkey-burgers with yummy spicy andouille sausage inside, plus a very yummy salad. What a feast! Thanks so much for having us over, Nady - and can't wait to have you over here next weekend!
