Thurs, Nov 20 - more work

9.07am - a fuji, a pear, and some Kashi 7-grain oatmeal that I found in the pantry at work and threw in the microwave. That's what it's come to around here. Can' t wait for this week to be over. A lot of this craziness is due to two important meetings that are taking place today and tomorrow. So hopefully, maybe, there's a chance things will normalize afterwards...1.46pm - Indian leftovers from Ritesh's dinner last night, or the night before. Not sure which. Am so stressed days just blend into each other. At work.
2.19pm - the digital group had a Thanksgiving potluck, and some goodies leftover: a little cornbead muffin, some bundt cake, and half a coconut cookie is what I looted from the pantry afterwards. At work.
7.02pm - managed to get out early (early??? - it was 6.20pm for crying out loud) to catch a preview screening of Entre Les Murs (The Class - winner of the Cannes Film Festival this year and France's entry for the Academy Awards) at UCLA with Ritesh. Brought a salad from Mrs. Winston's for us to share as dinner. I'd also gotten a bag of popped potato chips, which I left right next to the fridge in the lab, where I'd stored the salad - but guess what, one of my lovely co-workers just took it, right along with the Mrs. Winston's bag they were in. I was a little peeved at first - the lab is not the pantry, after all. But then again, on some karmic level, it's an exchange for the oatmeal and the muffin etc. So it's all good.

Mon, Nov 10 - Nadja's birthday

8.18am - bread w/ butter and jam, boiled egg, grapefruit, at home. Today is Nadja's b-day (that's the Nadja in Germany, not the Nadya who came over for dinner on Saturday). German Nadja and I have been friends since kindergarten, so I've celebrated many Nov 10's with her, and the date is etched in my mind - and reminded me that there's still a tiny bit of her mom's home made black currant jam in the fridge! Hence this breakfast. Happy birthday, Nadimaus!
And as an aside, today is also the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which fell during the night of Nov 9 to Nov 10, 1989.
10.49am - an article in Variety on how Obama is keeping his distance from Hollywood, to everyone's disappointment. Ah well. Oh, and I had some raw almonds and dried cranberries while browsing the trades. At work.
1.35pm - lentil soup and crackers from Mrs. Winston's, at work.
1.45pm - salad from Mrs. Winston's, at work. Today is the first day that the weather is so chilly that having lunch outside wasn't really an option, and that some hot soup was called for. And check out how sad this salad looks, compared to its splendid radiance when photographed outside. So much for my theory that food looks good in California because of the light...
2.18pm - chocolate cherry bumble bar, at work
7.09pm - this is leftovers from El Misti yesterday - this was the dish Ritesh's mom ordered and didn't really like so we got to take it home. I thought it was pretty tasty, although I still don't know what it is ...just some veggies and soy ham or something?
7.29pm - the last piece of tarte Tatin, shared w/ Ritesh

Wed, Aug 20 - one more day!

8.08am - blueberry smoothie and some fresh fruit, at home, halfway out the door in a rush to get to work and get stuff done before I leave tomorrow.9.18am - bumble bar, at work
10.52am - more fresh fruit, at work. It occurred to me that I didn't have any fruit or veggies yesterday, so today I'm overcompensating.
1.29pm - random mixed salad from Mrs. Winston's, including tuna salad, wasabi ramen salad, braised tofu, a bunch of greens and sprouts, some steamed asparagus, some banana chips etc., outside work
9.18pm - Ritesh made an excellent, excellent farewell dinner - homemade pasta sauce from Nady's gorgeous home grown tomatoes, with a little bit of carrot in it, just like Roberto's mamma makes it. With gnocchi, some super spicy meatballs fabricated from Italian sausages, and home made garlic bread. Delicious! Makes me not want to leave ... 9.22pm - and some Chianti. Which is, coincidentally, where my godson from London was christened a couple of years ago, Greve en Chianti in Tuscany. It's hard to fathom that at the time, 2 years p.b. (pre-blog) I did not bother to capture all the fantastic food we had. What was I thinking?
