Tues, Nov 18 - 12h plus workday

8.50am - coconut-milk yogurt (blueberry) with walnuts, sunflower and flax seeds, at work. Where things are a bit on the challenging side these days, what with the economic crisis and all. We were called into an impromptu emergency meeting on Friday and got what might have been thought to be intended as a pep talk if it hadn't included somber words about the survival of the company and how we all have to chip in and work even more and extra hours etc. So I did, impressionable as I am. Came in early, stayed way late, and made at least a dent in some work that other people had managed to leave lying around for two years and which had suddenly become super important. 2.03pm - a rushed lunch outside work: turkey meatloaf sandwich from Coral Tree Cafe
5.43pm - grapes, at work
6.04pm - Indian leftovers from Ritesh's fabulous dinner last night, at work
8.03pm - an apple and a fruit nut bar, still working away, at work
9.39pm - finally home, and Ritesh had been waiting for hours with dinner: an amazing cucumber daal, and his signature chili cabbage - what a treat! And what did he get as a reward? An extensive tirade about the situation at work. Sorry, love - and thanks for putting up with me this week!

Tues, Nov 11

8.21am - cereal w/ walnuts, almonds and hemp seeds, plus some cantaloupe and some royal jelly, at home. It's Veteran's Day today, a federal holiday for Ritesh, but not for us, so I had to trek off to work while Ritesh was still sleeping.2.10pm - the sucky Unagi bowl from Mr. Hana - the Unagi was more skin than anything else, and just super-oily. Really not good. At work.
4.35pm - I know, I know, I shouldn't have had this. But you know what, I haven't had one of these in forever, and I really enjoyed it. I LOVE peanutbutter cookies, and this was an especially good one. The domestic team got a whole basket of cookies from some client or vendor as a thank you gift, and they were kind enough to share. Thanks, guys!
5.08pm - spectacular sunset from the lunch room. I was of course eating a mini-fuji while watching this, but couldn't get the camera to focus on both the apple and the background, and light both equally well. So you'll just have to imagine the apple...not like you haven't seen it a million times on this blog already...
7.45pm - veggie pho and half the order of egg rolls that we normally get, as a concession to my current health needs. So I had one piece of these (instead of four), and Ritesh got three (instead of four), so it worked out ok, I think. Except that I'm not supposed to eat soy, either, so I'll have to lay off the tofu pho in the future, too. At Pho99, with Ritesh

Thurs, Aug 21 - leaving tonight!

9.12am - peanut butter bar and a fuji, at work1.17pm - leftover gnocchi and meatballs w/ Ritesh's home made tomato sauce, at work. Fabulous sauce, but gnocchi really don't reheat too well.
2.44pm - protein fruit blend, at work
6.33pm - turkey sandwich from Subway, with some added-on avocado plus some Doritos, at home.

Thurs, June 19 - Germany vs. Portugal, Pink Taco and Akasha

7.05am - omega 3 bar, after bootcamp, with Ritesh.7.22am - some green juice, at home.
7.50am - fresh mango, at home.
8.12am - Nady bread sandwich w/ boiled egg, at home.
10.56am - a salt bagel, courtesy of Marla, at work, while trying to set up ESPN 360 and video streaming on my computer to watch the game. Too much work to do to go back to the pub. But then, the game was so gripping and the Germans so unexpectedly inspired, I bailed at half time anyway and ran over to Greg's house to watch it on the big screen.
14.14h - tarragon egg salad from Gelson's, back at work, after the game.
14.14h - plus another corporate bagel, sorry for the crappy picture.
14.36h - a fuji (from the farmers market), at work, while reading through Tom Lutz' entire game commentary on the Guardian website and just relishing the fact that we made it to the semifinals after all.
18.34h - a pink margarita (w/ hibiscus), chips and salsa during happy hour at Pink Taco, with Ritesh, Elvira, Cynthia, Alison, Marina and a bunch of other people from his work.
19.38h - and finally, the long-awaited and oft-rescheduled dinner w/ Laura at Akasha. This is Akasha's bread and butter, and a dry French red that Laura picked. Akasha is the new popular deal around here, on grounds of it being all local, organic and sustainable, in terms of food and furnishings. With the exception of the wine, apparently.
19.40h - onion rings, at Akasha, w/ Laura. As long as they're local and organic, they're good for you, right?
19.50h - honey-glazed peach and arugula salad w/ goat cheese
19.50h - grilled artichoke w/ paprika aioli
19.51h - a bite of Laura's turkey burger and fries
20.441h - and a pretty sensational salty chocolate tart w/ caramel and nuts and some creamy gelato.

Sat, May 3, 2008

9.36am - blueberry-flaxseed smoothie, at home10.38am - my crustless veggie quiche w/ soy chicken, gruyere cheese and fresh rosemary from Greg's parents' garden (and no, I did not eat the whole thing all at once...)
11.18am - quiche w/ salad, toasted bread and coffee soy milk, at home, with Ritesh
3.12pm - a Gala apple, at home, in front of our incredibly fragrant jasmine bush
3.50pm - an extra slice of quiche, at home
4.09pm - absinthe chocolate from Italy, at home. Tastes like cough syrup.
4.34pm - to make up for that absinthe chocolate, a little sandwich w/ German truffle chocolate (organic, fair trade), at home
9.01pm - Ritesh wanted to go to Simpang Asia after seeing the pictures I've been taking there. Here's what he picked: chicken w/ spicy eggplant sauce, tamarind soup...
9.03pm - ...Indonesian chicken soup w/ extra lime, hot sauce and shrimp crackers...
9.06pm - and a whole, fried and almost caramelized tilapia, very sweet tasting and delicious (came recommended by the waitress)
9.10pm - and of course the famous avocado-chocolate smoothie, my favorite
9.49pm - Simpang Asia is really an Indonesian grocery store with a tacked on cafe, and they happened to sell these German coconut treats: Raffaello, on the drive home, with Ritesh
