10.12am - cream-of-rice w/ oat bran, boiled in vanilla hemp milk, w/ black sesame seeds and walnuts and some German beetroot syrup. Ended up tasting a little bit like a Japanese sesame-mochi dessert...12.50pm - this is No. 3 from the menu at Dai Ho in Temple City, which is about 27 miles north-east of LA. We don't drive this far for Chinese noodles every day, but the place is one of the Mandarin noodle delis recommended by Jonathan Gold, so we figured we had to give it a try. Dai Ho's owner is a sprightly Taiwanese noodle baron who apparently is willing to close the place on a whim for a good game of Mah Jong...
No.3 was selected for yours truly by said sprightly noodle baron ("is good for you"), and all I know is it's minced pork, very spicy, and very, very tasty
12.50pm - this is the famous spicy beef noodle soup for which we made the trip. We didn't care much for the tripe in it, but the soup and noodles were delicious!
2.19pm - Vietnamese sweet bean dessert w/ coconut milk, Mexican soft drink, at the Chinese supermarket in Rosemead. Didn't drive all that way to leave without doing some shopping...
6.05pm - spicy chocolate (pomegranate-chili) from Germany, at home
6.07pm - fresh plum, at home
8.58pm - Chinese style green beans and tofu w/ black bean sauce, Thai style green papaya salad, at home, with Ritesh
8.59pm - white fungus drink from the Chinese supermarket in Rosemead, tasted like sugar, at home
