Fri, Oct 3 - German Reunification Day

12.08pm - back at RockSugar, with Cecy! It's been a rough week at work, and we needed a bit of a break, and a treat. So here we go - RockSugar's signature black sesame rice crackers w/their fabulous tomato chutney dip12.19pm - passionfruit-kaffir-lime-lemongrass lassi - Cecy got one, too....
12.32pm - my pork vindaloo frankie w/ some of the best fries ever
12.37pm - half of Cecy's Thai-glazed burger - delicious, if not very Thai. Traded half my frankie for it, in case you're thinking I'm a pig.
1.32pm - RockSugar patio, on the way out
2.47pm - a mini ginger-lemongrass filled chocolate bar - kind of like a marzipan filling with added black sesame. Sadly, it was not very good. Too dry and chewy.
8.08pm - an impromptu German dinner at home, in honor of Reunification Day (Day of German Unity, as it is officially called): Schnitzel, mushroom gravy, potato dumplings and red cabbage w/ apple, at home, with Ritesh, Greg and Phinney.
8.16pm - side salad w/ some of that leftover lemon-caper dressing from the Bouchon cookbook, plus a Bit, at home, with Ritesh, Greg, and Phinney.
9.10pm - some German black beer chocolate, filled w/ a black beer and beer brandy ganache, at home, with Ritesh, Greg and Phinney
9.11pm - a preview tasting of the strawberry-basil martinis Greg and Phinney will be serving at their wedding (shame we don't have any martini glasses). This was the first lot, still with the pulp of the mashed fresh strawberries in it
9.34pm - this is the second batch, which we ended up straining - works better without the pulp. Fabulous drink! Can't wait until the wedding - next Sunday, Oct 12! Stay tuned!
