The night before Holi

... there were conference festivities taking place in the gardens of the illustrious CCI (Cricket Club of India)

fresh fruit spread
fresh roomali roti made on an upside down tava
a variety of foods from many regions of India, served on biodegradable plates made from some leaf (not banana).fresh-squeezed sugar cane juice w/ lime and ginger - so good, I had about five of them
a whole tray of fresh, piping hot jalebi! with some masala chai in thumb-sized recyclable clay cupsAs it was the night before Holi, the festival of colors, we got an early start on the mischief. Unfortunately, Ritesh's last presentation was scheduled for the morning of Holi itself, otherwise we would have gone up to Andheri to play Holi with the relatives.
Apart from food, there were a number of other attractions, traditional music and dance performances from across India that ranged from beautiful to uncomfortably touristy, such as this woman from Rajasthan dancing on a bed of nails while balancing four bowls on her head.
